Like many of our CSD students and those across the nation, we recognize and condemn the multifaceted aspects of systemic racism and oppression in this country that many of our NSSLHA students face. We stand with you in expressions of sadness, pain, anger, and calls for change.
We answer the call and are committed to addressing the fundamental issues of racism in our country. Within the CSD and NSSLHA communities, we can overcome these issues by increasing our cultural competence, cultural humility, and sensitivity, as well as embracing diversity and inclusion—and putting into action steps for change.

The initiatives and action-items listed on this page are not where we'll stop. We use the Strategic Plan as a guide to move NSSLHA forward, but it does not hinder us from doing more.

Established by National NSSLHA's Executive Council, many goals and objectives of our 2020–2023 Strategic Plan are dedicated to addressing cultural competency, cultural humility, diversity, and inclusion:
Established in the Fall of 2020, members of the IDEA Workgroup provide support to National NSSLHA's 2020-2023 Strategic Plan (Goals 1 and 3) by increasing opportunities to better and engage and retain multicultural (minority) students, providing support to students of all intersectionalities, and increasing opportunities to educate members on cultural competency/humility.

We're committed to using National NSSLHA platforms—like the NSSLHA Blog and our social media channels—to share even more stories from students who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) to amplify their voices and create ongoing conversations and action.

NSSLHA is clear in our stance against racism and oppression. Increasing cultural competence, cultural humility, sensitivity, diversity, and inclusion requires partnership and engagement among our members, non-member CSD students, volunteers, student leaders, National NSSLHA's Executive Council, and National Office staff.
