2020-2023 Strategic Plan

National NSSLHA's Strategic Plan provides information about the goals, objectives, and strategic initiatives planned to support our Mission, Vision, and Core Values.

Goal 1: Build a Strong and Diverse Membership Community

Objectives

  • Increase opportunities to better engage and retain multicultural (minority students)
  • Provide support for students from all intersectionalities
  • Increase opportunities to educate members on cultural competency

Strategic Initiatives

  • Engage in at least 4 activities to better understand the needs and expectations of students from all intersectionalities
  • Collaborate and engage in at least 4 activities with organizations that have minority/intersectionality member bases
  • Utilize Student State Officers to recruit culturally diverse high school students
  • Create pathways for NSSLHA members to increase multicultural engagement

Goal 2: Enhance Member Understanding and Engagement

Objectives

  • Promote legislative advocacy
  • Increase efficiency of communications regarding National NSSLHA programs and activities
  • Increase communication of National NSSLHA Executive Council activities

Strategic Initiatives

  • Disseminate messages and tools to explain the importance of legislative work twice per year
  • Establish a method for NSSLHA members to voice issues and concerns to the National NSSLHA Executive Council
  • Create and increase micro-volunteer opportunities by creating at least 1 work group/subcommittee
  • Provide bi-annual updates to NSSLHA members, including updates on Strategic Plan progress

Goal 3: Facilitate Collaboration and Growth

Objectives

  • Partner with CSD-related associations

Strategic Initiatives

  • Ensure National NSSLHA presence at professional meetings (AAA, NBASLH, CSAP, and state associations)
  • Establish and maintain ongoing collaborative communications across CSD-related organizations by successfully planning and coordinating communications at least twice per year
