Executive Council Meeting Report

The NSSLHA Executive Council (EC) met virtually on March 20, 2021. Here, you’ll find the Summary Report of the meeting.

Executive Council members in attendance were President Jordan Girola, President-Elect Adrienne Graves, Vice President for Finance Miya Wilson, Vice President for Planning Alison Dungca, Vice President for Academic Affairs Melanie Alcala, Vice President for Government Affairs and Public Policy Natalie Sfeir, Vice President for Programming (AuD) Salvatore Paporto, Vice President for Programming (SLP) Rebecca Willer, Vice President for Student State Officers (Western Region) Leila Regio, Vice President for Student State Officers (Central Region) Kaylee Genzel, Vice President for Student State Officers (Northeastern Region) Kate Phelps, Vice President for Student State Officers (Southern Region) Melissa Schenley, and NSSLHA National Advisor Dr. Kia Johnson.

National NSSLHA Program Director Gennith Johnson; ASHA Chief Staff Officer for Operations Kyle Vickers; ASHA Chief Executive Officer Arlene Pietranton; ASHA President A. Lynn Williams; ASHA President-Elect Judy Rudebusch Rich; and past National NSSLHA Executive Council members, Teffany Ventura, Brandon Roppel, Garrett Nathan, and Sarah Sleeter were also in attendance.

Opening Remarks

The Spring 2021 NSSLHA EC business meeting was called to order at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2021, by President Jordan Girola.

Leadership Activity

Graves led a team-building activity with all EC members.

National Advisor Update

Dr. Johnson provided a National Advisor update including reminders for EC members to continue mentorship with their ASHA Board of Directors mentors.

ASHA Presidential Team Update

ASHA President A. Lynn Williams, ASHA President-Elect Judy Rudebusch Rich, ASHA Chief Executive Officer Arlene Pietranton, and ASHA Chief Staff Officer of Operations Kyle Vickers joined the meeting to discuss current activities at ASHA and answer questions from the EC.

National NSSLHA Alumni Panel

Ventura, Roppel, Nathan, and Sleeter joined the meeting to discuss career development and volunteering within the professions beyond their terms on the EC.

Strategic Planning

Dungca reviewed key performance indicators (KPIs) for the 2020-2022 Strategic Plan and reported that progress toward desired outcomes is on track.

Financial Update

Wilson provided a financial update and review of the preliminary 2020 year-end finance report.

National NSSLHA Update

Johnson provided an overview of the National Office reopening plan, current member counts, and programming updates.

2021-2023 EC Slate

The EC discussed criteria and plan for selection of the 2021-2023 EC slate.

Closing Remarks

The meeting was adjourned at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2021.
