National NSSLHA Announces 2023 Chapter Advisor Honors Awardees

(ROCKVILLE, Maryland – May 12, 2023) – Today, National NSSLHA announced its 2023 Chapter Advisor Honors awardees are George Pagano, M.S., CCC-SLP, assistant clinic director at Long Island University (LIU), Brooklyn, and Tara Marshall, M.S., CCC-SLP, an instructor, assistant clinic coordinator, and advisor at Fort Hays State University in Kansas.

Pagano, who advises the NSSLHA LIU Brooklyn chapter, has received the Continued Commitment Award, which is presented annually to an individual with five or more years of service as a chapter advisor. “This is a wonderful honor. It is so moving to be recognized by my students, colleagues, and National NSSLHA,” said Pagano.

Marshall received the Making Waves Award, which is presented annually to a chapter advisor with one to four years of service. “I am very humbled and honored that my students took their precious time to nominate me for this award,” said Marshall. “To be selected as the recipient, when I know there are many hard-working and dedicated NSSLHA advisors like me, leaves me speechless! I am here for the students, and I will continue to support and push them to be their best.”

National NSSLHA’s Executive Council selected Pagano and Marshall for Chapter Advisor Honors amongst a network of more than 340 chapters nationwide. Their awards will be presented at the 2023 ASHA Convention in Boston this November.
